Herbal remedies

There is no end to how herbs can be used to gently support us and simultaneously be seriously powerful when woven into a remedy with no negative side effects.

I make my own herbal remedies at home in my much-loved rustic apothecary and I try to grow and forage for as many of the herbs that I use in my remedies.

In Ayurveda, it is believed that like attracts like and the opposite brings balance. Each herb has its own qualities and they’re used to support and reestablish balance within our systems.

My herbal remedy repertoire is extensive and ranges from herbal bath blends to soothe irritation to mind and skin, seasonal herbal teas, circulation salts, skin healing salves, tinctures to support a frayed nervous system, herbal foot baths, lubrication balms and pessaries for menopausal dryness, rose honey for emotional support, skin cleansing balms, body butters and grounding bath salts.

I also handcraft slow infused herbal oils; this precious oil can then be made into massage oils, body butters, creams and salves.

Nurturing plants for medicine

I love to be able to nurture plants with the intention of growing medicine. Growing my own herbs means I get a superior end product. I can harvest at the optimal time, and then carefully manage the drying, preserving and storing process. You cannot purchase anything that comes close to what you can grow.

A few firm favourite herbal allies are calendula, peppermint, lemon balm, lavender, rose, rosemary and chamomile. Some wild ones I love to forage locally are nettle, plantain, dandelion, yarrow, cleavers, hawthorne and linden to name a few.

Many of the Ayurvedic remedies include the use of culinary spices, which I love making medicinal blends from. I am constantly creating new formulas to suit the individual needs of my clients and I have many tried and tested favourites.

Living Ayurvedically, we naturally release the toxic load that can accumulate over time from stress and poor diet and lifestyle. When we put herbs into a clean system, they are amplified in their effectiveness and potency.

Bespoke herbal blends

I make bespoke herbal remedies to suit my clients; they are made up for the person, not a condition. Some remedies are simply invitations for some sacred self-care. Encouraging moments to unplug, take pause and reconnect to the divinity within. This sacred approach to self-care tenderly guides you into a more soulful and kinder relationship with yourself. In the stillness we find we open up to and become receptive to messages from within.

Some herbs will be contraindicated for some clients, and this is something we will check once we are working together.

I work with an Ayurvedic Herbalist based in Harrogate and I source my Ayurvedic blends from her. They are superior to anything else I have come across. These are ordered in at an additional cost to the client if they are needed.
